Ms. Tephanie M. Gandia specializes in Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking and Finance, Capital Markets and Antitrust and Competition.
In 2021, Ms. Gandia was named Asia Future Leader by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR), the first and only one recognized from the Philippines. The IFLR Asia Future Leaders are chosen lawyers who “had a large impact in their local markets in 2020 – with influential, precedent-setting transactions across the practice areas covered by IFLR1000”, receiving “high praise from their peers and clients, indicating they are ready to step up leadership positions within their markets”.
She has been ranked by IFLR1000 as a Leading Lawyer-Rising Star in M&A, Banking and Finance and Capital Markets since 2020, the only one to be recognized across three areas among three exclusively ranked lawyers in the country.
Ms. Gandia is also among the first to be ranked by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a Next Generation Lawyer/Rising Star in the section’s inauguration in 2016, and has been consistently recognized as one of the elite up-and-coming lawyers in Corporate and M&A ever since. She was also cited as a Recommended Lawyer by the same publication.

In what is relatively still a blossoming legal career, Ms. Gandia’s strong professional experience involves acting as counsel to some of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines in their acquisitions in the shipping, logistics, energy and banking sectors. She was also part of some of the biggest counterpart financing transactions and public offerings in the country to date.

Ms. Gandia likewise gathered expertise in Competition Law, a relatively new yet increasingly important and relevant niche in the Philippine M&A scene, having represented clients in merger notification reviews, with pioneering experience in adjudication proceedings and negotiations of voluntary commitments with the Philippine Competition Commission.

She also handles corporate governance requirements of several publicly-listed companies and of corporations holding secondary licenses from the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and the Maritime Industry Authority, among others. She is also counsel to prominent banking and financial industry associations in the country.
Ms. Gandia is a Certified Associate Treasury Professional, having completed and passed the Treasury Certification Program of the Ateneo-Bankers Association of the Philippines Institute of Banking in 2017.
